What is Integrated Pest Management?
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

Our Method
In keeping with our responsibility to practice pest control in safety for people, pets and the environment, we have developed a three pronged approach, or 3 Lines of Defense to keeping pests out of your home.
1st Line of Defense:
The barrier that we spray around the perimeter of your home is the first line of defense again pests. We use a powder that is suspended in water and sprayed on the foundation. When it dries it leaves a residue that remains as a contact killer for insects that try to crawl up from the ground into the house. We spray about 2 feet up onto the foundation and 2 feet out into the flowerbed or grass.
*Depending on the house (slab or crawlspace) the barrier includes doorways, crawlspace screens, deck barrier, and garage doors.
2nd Line of Defense:
The second line of defense is our General Recommendations for sealing up your house. This includes sealing plumbing voids, checking weather stripping on doors, checking sealing on windows, and also sealing any lines into the house from the foundation, i.e. water lines, power lines, electric lines, and cable lines. These holes are usually huge highways for bugs and provide a way into the walls and thence through the plumbing voids into the house. They could be attracted by the heat of the electricity, seeking shelter, or foraging for food.
*We have made this contingent for our contract clients for the free service calls that we offer. Because it is an integral part of how we practice pest control we rely on the home owner to take responsibility for his home and to care as much as we do about being safe.

3rd Line of Defense:
Whether it is a one time treatment or the initial contract visit, we still place product (pyrethrin based) inside the plumbing voids in the kitchen and any bathrooms on the ground floor. This is designed to kill any insects that happen to make it past the barrier and the sealing outside and inside the house.
Finally :
When all of these defensive lines are in place and we maintain the barrier, we can guarantee that your home will be bug free. Sometimes it takes a bit of adjusting because no two houses are exactly alike. However, we are committed to keeping you pest free naturally and safely. Our products do tend to take a bit more time to work than traditional pesticides but we stand by them.
